Basics of Editing & Reporting Standardized Tests
and Preparatory Trainings
August - September, 2018
The Centre for Excellence in Journalism at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) is pleased to announce the second edition of its Basics of Editing & Reporting Courses leading up to a standardized test and certification. Running from August through September, 2018, these courses will provide an opportunity for entry-level and mid-career journalists to learn and build the skills needed to be successful in a media job.
The media is a fast-paced industry and newsrooms usually do not have the time to train new entrants who have had little to no experience of working in a media environment. Keeping that in mind, the CEJ has decided to conduct trainings in the basics of news reporting and editing for newcomers to the field and mid-career journalists looking to improve their skills. Media professionals from different parts of the country have been chosen to design a course module and conduct a five-day training, which will lead up to a test. Successful candidates will be awarded an accreditation certificate issued by the CEJ-IBA.
- Training in Basics of Editing will run from August 6 to August 10, 2018, while the test will be held on August 15.
- Training in Basics of Reporting will run from August 27 to August 31, 2018, while the test will be held on September 4.
The aim of this project is to introduce a standardized test for journalists working in the country. Applicants can apply for the course and test, and also for the test only. The module for this course will also be made available online.
Selected applicants can take the five-day training and the subsequent test free of charge. The project has been made possible with funding from the British High Commission.
