Basics of Editing & Reporting Tests and Preparatory Trainings October - November, 2018

The Centre for Excellence in Journalism at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) is pleased to announce the third edition of its Basics of Editing & Basics of Reporting Courses leading up to a standardized test and certification. Running from October through November, 2018, these courses will provide an opportunity for newcomers to the field and working journalists to learn the skills needed to be successful in a media job.

The media is a fast-paced industry and newsrooms usually do not have the time to train new entrants who have had little to no experience of working in a media environment. Keeping that in mind, the CEJ has decided to conduct trainings in the basics of news reporting and news editing for fresh and mid-career journalists. Media professionals from different parts of the country have been chosen to design a module and conduct a five-day training, which will lead up to a test. Successful candidates will be awarded an accreditation certificate issued by the CEJ-IBA.

  • Basics of Editing course will run from October 8-12, 2018, while the test will be held on October 16.
  • Basics of Reporting course will run from October 22-26, 2018, while the test will be held on October 30.

The aim of this project is to improve journalism standards in the country and to help those journalists who may not have studied journalism.

Selected applicants can take the five-day training and the subsequent test free of charge. The project has been made possible with funding from the British High Commission.
