Basics of Editing & Reporting Tests
and Preparatory Trainings
February - March, 2018
The Centre for Excellence in Journalism at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) is pleased to announce the launch of its Basics of Editing & Reporting Courses leading up to a standardized test and certification. Running from February through March, 2018, these courses will provide an opportunity for students aspiring to be journalists and newcomers to the field to learn the skills needed to be successful in a media job.
The media is a fact-paced industry and newsrooms usually do not have the time to train new entrants who have had little to no experience of working in a media environment. Keeping that in mind, the CEJ has decided to conduct trainings in the basics of news reporting and editing for students aspiring to be journalists or newcomers to the field. Media professionals from different parts of the country have been chosen to design a module and conduct a five-day training, which will lead up to a test. Successful candidates will be awarded an accreditation certificate issued by the CEJ-IBA.
- Training in Basics of Editing will run from February 12-16, 2018, while the test will be held on February 20.
- Training in Basics of Reporting will run from February 26-March 2, 2018, while the test will be held on March 6.
The aim of this project is to introduce a standardized test for journalists working in the country.
The inaugural batch of applicants can take the five-day training and the subsequent test free of charge. The project has been made possible with funding from the British High Commission.
Registration for Basics of Editing are open and announced through CEJ's Facebook page and website.
