Basics of Urdu Editing & Reporting Tests and Preparatory Trainings February – March, 2019

The Centre for Excellence in Journalism at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) is pleased to announce the fourth edition of its Basics of Urdu Editing & Basics of Urdu Reporting Courses leading up to a standardized test and certification. Running from February through March, 2019, these courses will provide an opportunity for newcomers to the field and working journalists to learn the skills needed to be successful in a media job.

The media is a fast-paced industry and newsrooms usually do not have the time to train new entrants who have had little to no experience of working in a media environment. Keeping that in mind, the CEJ has decided to conduct trainings in the basics of news reporting and news editing for fresh and mid-career journalists. Media professionals from different parts of the country have been chosen to design a module and conduct a two-day training, which will lead up to a test. Successful candidates will be awarded an accreditation certificate issued by the CEJ-IBA.

  • Basics of Urdu Editing course will run from February 29-20, 2019, while the test will be held on February 25.
  • Basics of Reporting course will run from March 19-20, 2019, while the test will be held on March 25.

The aim of this project is to improve journalism standards in the country and to help those journalists who may not have studied journalism.

Selected applicants can take the two-day training and the subsequent test free of charge. The project has been made possible with funding from the British High Commission.
