Humanitarian Reporting Workshop
The Centre for Excellence in Journalism collaborated with the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) to conduct a two-day workshop on Humanitarian Reporting for journalists across Pakistan. This training was held from August 6 to 7, 2018 in Karachi. The training was led by Samaa TV Digital Properties Editor Ms. Mahim Maher. The guest lectures were delivered by philanthropist Faisal Edhi on how first responders work in a disaster affected area, architect Arif Belgaumi on infrastructure damage during disasters, and Dr. Seemin Jamali on how hospitals respond to mass medical crises and ICRC Pakistan Communications Coordinator/ Spokesperson Najum Abbasi.
Basics of Editing Workshop and Test by British High Commission
The Centre for Excellence in Journalism and the British High Commission held the second Basics of Editing course leading up to a standardized test and certification from August 6 to 10, 2018. The course was attended by 34 journalists and aspiring journalists. The trainer for the course was Mr. Nizamuddin Siddiqui, a senior journalist working for Dawn newspaper. After the course, a standardized test on Basics of Editing was held on August 15, 2018 in Karachi.
Basics of Reporting Workshop and Test by British High Commission
The Centre for Excellence in Journalism and the British High Commission launched the second Basics of Reporting course leading up to a standardized test and certification from August 27 to 31, 2018. The trainer for the course was former Pakistan Bureau Chief for Bloomberg News Ms. Naween Mangi. The test was conducted on September 4, 2018.
