Panel Discussion on Violence
The Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) organized a panel discussion on 'Reporting on the Cycle of Violence in Pakistan - Understanding the Interplay between Power, Politics, Law and Rights', on March 13, 2018. Bolo Bhi co-founder Farieha Aziz, moderated the panel discussion between Sindh Human Rights Commission chairperson Justice (retd) Majida Razvi, Capital TV host and journalist Owais Tohid, Supreme Court barrister-at-law and advocate Ravi Pinjani and Human Rights Commission of Pakistan co-chairperson and founding member of Women's Action Forum Uzma Noorani.
Panel Discussion on "The Ugly side of Media and Politics"
The Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) organized a panel discussion on 'The Ugly Side of Media and Politics' on March 20, 2018. Bolo Bhi co-founder Farieha Aziz moderated the panel discussion between Supreme Court advocate Zahid Ebrahim, Uks Research Centre trainer and consultant on gender and media Tasneem Ahmer and Dawn columnist Zubeida Mustafa.
Humanitarian Reporting Workshop in Lahore
The CEJ collaborated with the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) to conduct a two-day workshop on Humanitarian Reporting for journalists across Punjab. This training was held from March 27-28, 2018 at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Lahore. The training was led by Sharjeel Shahzad, a communication professional dedicated to the field of development. Guest lectures were delivered by Ayesha Iftikhar, a clinical psychologist and integrative psychotherapist, and ICRC Pakistan Communications Coordinator/ Spokesperson Najum Abbasi.
This intensive two-day training covered the basics of humanitarian reporting and also gave the participants information on international humanitarian laws, tips on how to work with INGOs and a detailed understanding of flood management systems, disaster management authority and risk assessment.
