
The Center for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) at IBA Karachi hosted a special screening of the documentary Motherland (Dharti Maa), an evocative film that explores the realities of climate change and resilience in Thar Desert.
Set in the heart of Thar, the documentary presents powerful stories of communities confronting environmental adversity. Through striking imagery and intimate storytelling, Motherland (Dharti Maa) captured the resilience, determination, and strength of people living on the front lines of climate challenges. The film offered viewers a compelling look at how communities adapt, endure, and continue to protect their relationship with the land.
The screening was organized by CEJ in collaboration with Policy Research Institute for Equitable Development (PRIED) and Earthwise. The event brought together journalists, documentary filmmakers, social science faculty, and students, creating space for a thoughtful discussion on climate realities and the role of storytelling in documenting environmental change.
