Let’s combat misinformation together via iVerify Pakistan’s tool.
iVerify is a non-partisan fact-checking initiative of the Center for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) at the Institute of Business Administration University in Karachi, Pakistan, supported by the United Nations Development Programme.
CEJ hosted the management team of HBL Microfinance Bank for a customized executive engagement focused on strategic media management. The sessions explored how organizations can navigate a complex digital media environment, build institutional trust, and shape responsible narratives across platforms through informed leadership and newsroom insight.
CEJ convened the launch of Report: Truth Denied How Pakistani Authorities Built an Unsolvable Case at IBA Karachi, highlighting systemic gaps in journalist protection through the case of Zakir Hussain Dahar. Speakers emphasized the urgent need for accountability, justice, and stronger safeguards to ensure the safety of journalists across Pakistan.
As an academic partner for Climate Week Karachi 2026, CEJ hosted the opening ceremony of Pakistan’s first Climate Week and co hosted a two day Green Journalism Workshop with the Climate Action Center and PRIED. Through this partnership, CEJ advanced journalism that informs public debate, deepens understanding, and supports climate action.
The Center for Excellence in Journalism at IBA partnered with AidData to host a specialized training programme on data journalism and development finance in Karachi. The programme brought together 25 journalists for an intensive week of learning focused on strengthening their ability to use data and analysis in reporting.
"We started the master’s program in journalism under the School of Social Studies so that practitioners can gain some theoretical understanding of the foundations of the various social sciences. Technology is now a major driver of the media, and I hope that through the MSJ Program you will continue to adapt yourself to these new circumstances, for example, artificial intelligence, which is becoming increasingly critical in all aspects of life."
