In an age of deepfakes and AI-generated content, how do you know what’s real?

That was the question at the heart of our recent session with students from the Department of Mass Communication, University of Karachi.

IBA-CEJ conducted a hands-on training on ‘Fact-Checking and Countering Digital and AI-Led Disinformation’, giving future communicators the skills to navigate today’s complex information landscape.

Sheraz Rajput and Ainum Baig, Senior Fact-Checkers at CEJ-iVerify Pakistan, led the session. Sheeraz introduced the fundamentals of fact-checking and mis/disinformation, while Ainum took students through practical tools and techniques in live, hands-on exercises.

By the end, students were better equipped to verify information, spot misleading content, and engage more critically with what they see online.

Because the next generation of media professionals shouldn’t just consume information, they should question it.
